Official Opening of Markham Museum’s New Collections Building

The new building opens to the public during Applefest weekend

Markham ~ September 22, 2011 ~ On September 24, 2011, during Markham’s annual Applefest weekend, Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Councillor Carolina Moretti, Members of Markham Council and Paul Calandra, M.P. for Oak Ridges-Markham will officially open to the public the Markham Museum’s new $9-milllion, 17,000 square foot LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold standard Collections Building. It is one of the first in Canada built to these standards and is a benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance “green” buildings.


This new facility was made possible with funding support from Markham and the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage. It is a significant investment in culture in Markham and will strengthen the Museum’s role as a major regional attraction.

India's cricketing legend the Nawab of Pataudi, Mansur Ali Khan has passed away. He is survived by his wife, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and his actor children Soha and Saif and grand children. India has lost an illustrious son. He was one of cricket's best captains.

After judging UK’s Largest Talent Show ‘Brit Asia Super Star, working on the official Remix of ‘’Tonight’’ for Jay Sean and being supported by Jermaine Jackson for his charity single – One Day.

XS- BASS known as Harj D is the man that created and was one of the judges on the Brit Asia Super Star contest which was aired internationally across the world searching for new British Talent.  XS-BASS hit it big in the Late 90’s whilst DJ’ing across the nation and working with the biggest names in the Bhangra Industry with the names like the SAHOTAS, B21, Surinder Shinda, Ranjit Mani, Lehmber Hussainpuri and Malkit Singh. Having launched his 2nd Album ‘Amplified’ in 2008, the chart topping producer is now back with AJAA NACHLE “Lovers Anthem Pt 2’’ FT Jelly Manjitpuri and Maninder Bawa. The singers and production sets a light another fresh Bhangra anthem.
