I am Anna - An Exclusive Chat with Shweta Nagpurkar Saxena

Shweta Nagpurkar Saxena talks to Anna Hazare - “The one who lives for others, lives forever…this is the proved history of our Nation”

StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-25th September 2011 was the day when I touched the no-corruption soil of a village in India. A pristine village where even thinking about involving in the corruption is considered as a sin, a place where peace is allowed to rule the minds, where from children to the elderly choose the path of non-violence and anti-corruption and live with the faith that they made a right decision, village which since last several decades has proudly carried on the mission of ‘I am Anna’!

Yes, this notable description is of Anna Hazare’s village Ralegaon Siddhi near Pune in Maharashtra. 74 yrs old crusader, Anna Hazare, has dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the country. He now is engrossed in mushrooming National awareness to get passed the anti-corruption related Janlokpal Bill.

There are many non-supporters who visited Annaji’s village to cross-check his preaching and returned back as an added figure to his Supporters list. And this still continues. However, after Anna’s 2 anshans, countless people are visiting his village to express their respect/ support and affection for him.
School visits, family visits, researchers and also, other Nationality supporters/ admirers are making their sincere attempts to let Annaji know that they are Anna too.

Head of the village, Mr. Jaysingh, in his interview said, “Our village is turning into a pilgrimage for several visitors. People come to have a glance of Annaji. They talk to us about his life’s journey, his values, about his patriotism. Many researchers travel miles to reach here and understand the fact that how did one Man can quaver the whole Nation in such a non-violent way? Visitors are willing to give huge donation; however, we aren’t accepting it anymore as we do not need it currently. We gathered almost Rs. 50, 000/- in a day in the past. We have formed a trust of this people’s money and all the information related to its expenses has been made transparent on the internet. Many people come with their unresolved problems/ complain and request to continue this anti-corruption agitation.” He added, “We contributed in the crusade by doing chain fasts and candle marches. Annaji has been always teaching us that every good act we wish the world should follow HAS TO begin from our home. Thus, we have come very clean despite of endless allegations. Would surely continue to remain corruption-free and addiction-free village. Thanks. Jai Hind.”
Annaji, rightly called as the ‘Father of the Modern India’,  in his interview has once again earnestly appealed to all the Indians in the country and abroad to continue supporting this anti-corruption movement in a non-violent way. He also mentioned that Janlokpal Bill is just a part of his mission. He is next aiming to bring-in laws of NOTA, Right to Recall, Right to Reject, Decentralization to clean the Nation and to get freedom for the Motherland from the cancer of corruption.

His three vital messages for every Indian are:
1] "The one who lives for himself and dies 1 day.....dies forever. Whereas, the 1 who lives for others and dies......Lives forever. This is the proved history of our Nation".

2] "Even animals, birds take birth/ live/ eat-drink and die......than what is the difference between them and us? We Humans should use our brains for the constant development of self and the Nation".

3] "Indians abroad should continue loving their Country and supporting our anti-corruption movement. This is just the beginning. We need EVERY Indian to join hands in this crusade.

Surely, the readers who believe in the above messages will fearlessly join the mission of ‘I Am Anna’.
