Social Media Marketing News: Marketing Dollars Spent on Social Media to Climb

StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-
Dallas, TX (WiredPRNews.com) — Social media marketing has swept through companies around the world as a must have as part of an Internet marketing campaign. In addition to search engine optimization (SEO), online press release distribution and Google local services, social media marketing is now recognized as a valued Internet marketing tool. More than any other area of Internet marketing, social media marketing spend is estimated to grow at an astonishing rate throughout the remainder of the year.
A recent poll taken by Effie Worldwide and reported on by social media and web news site Mashable shows that 7 out of 10 marketers are planning on increasing their budgets for social media marketing by over ten percent this year. Among those included in February’s social media marketing survey were financial institutions like Bank of America, consumer product producers like Colgate-Palmolive, and the trendy car company Mini USA.

No matter what industry the company was in, an underlying social media marketing goal was to increase the number of ‘likes’ on Facebook fan pages. A secondary social media marketing focus for those surveyed was an increased presence in the mobile marketing space. Four out of five companies will be advertising on iPads or creating their own iPad app in 2011.
