Akshay and John back again for Desi Boyz


Akshay Kumar and John Abraham who tried their hand at comedy with Garam Masala are back again for another rib tickling flick, Desi Boyz. Ronit Dhawan, son of well known director of comedy films, David Dhawan makes his directorial debut in the film
StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Sep 29, 2011 - The Garam Masala duo, Aksahy Kumar and John Abraham are back again to tickle your funny bone with their upcoming film, Desi Boyz, which is directed by debutant director Rohit Dhawan.  The film also has Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh in the female leads. The film also has Sanjay Dutt and Omi Vaidya aka Chatur in supporting roles. Pritam has composed the music for this film. The film is supposed to be in theatres on 25th November.

Desi Boyz is set in the back drop of the recession that hit the world a some years back. John Abraham plays the character of Nick while Akshay Kumar is Jerry, Nick’s best friend. Nick is a very successful investment banker in London, who has just got a bonus and has a gorgeous girlfriend, Deepika Padukone. Jerry is jobless, but manages to make ends meet thanks to his best friend, Nick, so for Nick the global meltdown makes no difference. Things take a turn for this happy-go-lucky duo, when Nick’s company decides to downsize and unceremoniously fires him. Jerry is informed by the Social Services that his nephew Veer, whose local guardian is Jerry will be placed in a foster home unless he gets a steady job. Now, the two men who are forced to do something extremely bizarre which gives them instant gratification but the repercussions tear them apart.

Says Rohit Dhawan, "The movie is very much different and does not have my dad's style of comedy and humour. The humour in my film is subtle while the kind of humour he has in his movies is loud. And it is difficult to do that."  The film has also been in news due to Akshay Kumar’s daredevil helicopter stunt in which he used to harness and stood at the open door of the chopper without any strapping, very calm and composed!
